One of the most common causes of inflammation is unknown food sensitivity, or a diet replete with inflammatory foods. Processed foods typically loaded with sugars, bad oils, and chemicals are inflammatory. Some people handle it better than others, but it is a stressor for the body for everyone. Chances are good that you are eating something that is causing at least some of your inflammation.
So What Can You Do?
Exploring your ideal diet is key to reducing inflammation. It took me years to dial in what my optimal diet is. I can help you condense what took me over half a decade to figure out. We are all different and there is no “one size fits all” diet. For example, vegetables are healthy for everyone, but if you are sensitive to certain vegetables, they will cause you inflammation. For someone with significant inflammation, doing a type of elimination diet is imperative to identify culprit foods. It is the best starting point to turning your health around. I use a variety of diet protocols in my practice. I am a certified Whole30® Coach, an AIP® (Autoimmune Protocol) Certified Coach, As well as a Functional Medicine Health Coach, and I use my knowledge and training in all three protocols to co-create the best approach for you according to your symptoms and current lifestyle.
Even if you eat a very healthy, nutrient dense diet; if you haven’t explored possible food sensitivities, you can not know for sure if your diet is helping or hindering. I have never worked with a client that didn’t identify at least one food that was a problem. NOT ONE! Clients have reversed sometimes lifelong issues with diet change. I have witnessed clients improve their sleep, skin issues (even eczema and psoriasis) pain levels, energy, mood, hormone levels, and digestion.
Most of us tell ourselves that as we get older, we are supposed to struggle more with energy and health. This is NOT TRUE! Pain, fatigue, skin issues, and GI upset are all signals that the body is taxed. The simplest way to start investigating is to adjust the diet. Get started by eliminating inflammatory and suspect foods for 30-90 days, and reintroducing them strategically to collect the data on sensitivities.
It’s time to take action to reclaim your health!
