I was on a business trip recently, and it motivated me to write this email.

As I was traveling, I was using Ubers to get around. I love the convenience for a short trip.

However, it brought this important topic up in a very uncomfortable way.

The majority of the cars I rode in had air fresheners. And I thanked the driver of the car that didn't have air fresheners and we had a great conversation. She almost quit driving for Uber because of the amount of fragrance that people are wearing when they get in her car. You see... she has Hashimoto's (autoimmunity). I promised her I would write this.

You might think that the topic of fragrance isn't a big deal. But it IS!

We are barraged with synthetic scents and fragrance worse than ever before.

If you know me, or have worked with me before, you know where I am going with this...

Why you should care!

Most scents and fragrance are TOXIC!

As a matter of fact, the word "fragrance" on a label is a catch-all phrase that manufacturer use and can include more than one of thousands of toxic chemicals. These ingredients often include carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, respiratory irritants, allergens, endocrine disruptors, neurotoxic chemicals and environmental toxicants.

The majority of my clients are sensitive to fragrance and didn't know why. These chemicals greatly impact toxic burden and often cause headaches or migraines, are linked to cancer, inflammation, birth defects, and other health challenges.

These synthetic scents are often included in personal care products, makeup, household cleaning products, air fresheners, perfumes, scented candles, and even plastic bags. Basically, they are everywhere! Last week a client told me that she ordered groceries from Sprouts and they were delivered in scented grocery bags. GROCERY BAGS! 🥺

I like things that smell good as much as the next person (maybe even more)! So, I use pure essential oils and diffusers to enjoy clean, healthy scents.

So what can we do?

  1. Make your home your haven. Clean up your products by swapping for healthy options, one by one.
  2. Use essential oils instead of synthetic fragrance
  3. Use your dollar to create change. If you aren't purchasing the chemical-laden products, manufacturers will change their practices.

If you need support "cleaning it up" let me know. I am here for you!
