We NEED to get plenty of healthy fats in our diet!

If you aren't consciously thinking about it, you are likely not getting enough.

One roadblock to consuming enough healthy fats is the programming that fat is bad for you and should be limited.  This misinformation has contributed to a lot of illness.

People have become unknowingly fat phobic.  Truly!

Why we need to eat fats:
Our brains are made of fat, and our nerves are sheathed in fat.  Cell membranes are made up of fat, and fats are required to absorb certain vitamins and nutrients.  Fats are also essential for blood clotting and reducing inflammation, as well as stabilizing blood sugar and increasing satiety.

So why the bad rap?
Not all fats are created equal.
There are a lot of bad fats out there.  The Standard American Diet is filled with processed, hydrogenated, saturated fats that are inflammatory. The oils that were introduced several decades ago; corn, canola, vegetable...are all inflammatory and should have no place in our food system.

So we have to actively focus on including foods like olives/olive oil, avocados/avocado oil, nuts, seeds, salmon, sardines, and coconut oil (and even grass-fed butter) on a regular basis.  And I am talking about more than a spoonful.

I have been asked numerous times, "how many avocados is too many?"  My answer... "there is no such thing as too many avocados!" 🥑🥑🥑

Do you think you eating enough of these good fats?

Take Action

Objectively consider. your intake of healthy fats.  Do you avoid fat because you think it's bad for you?  Read the labels on you salad dressing and mayonnaise.  Even the ones marked olive oil in the front..read the back.  Find a place to add healthy fats into your day.  Perhaps some extra olive oil and avocado on your salad, or a handful of raw nuts for a snack.  Find the up level and execute!
For extra credit:  Hit reply and let me know your favorite way to get healthy fats into your diet.
