This time of year can make sticking to your eating plan extra challenging!

We often focus on perfection, which can lead to disaster.

If you know you are going to be surrounded by temptations, I invite you to take the following steps:

1 - Plan ahead!  Usually, when I say this, I am referring to bringing compliant foods with you or eating ahead of time (or both).  And this is ESSENTIAL!
I also mean, decide ahead of time if you are going to stray from your eating plan, and by how far.
2 - Ask yourself the following questions to help you decide...
If I decide to eat __________, what will the consequences be? (ie: how bad will if feel? Will it flare me?)
     Are the consequences worth it?
Is there something else that is on plan that will satisfy me?
3 - If there are foods that are off-plan, but won't throw you back too far...consider a bite or two instead of a full serving.

By deciding ahead of time what you might allow yourself you can enjoy without the guilt that might arise if you indulge in the moment.  There will be no "fail."  Just a decision.

Often, when we give ourselves permission to have the treat...we find that we don't even want it.  Or... we get to enjoy...and then move on.

To clarify...I am not suggesting that you eat anything that might make you feel sick, or flare!

Take Action

The most important step is to plan ahead and evaluate what is worth splurging on.  And then...give yourself the grace to be less than perfect if it isn't going to hurt you.
