As you read this, I am in New York City for a conference I have been looking forward to attending since 2020.
What does this have to do with shifting priorities?
I will tell you!

I grew up in New Jersey and enjoyed spending time in NYC.

The first thing that always comes to mind when I think of "the city" is GREAT FOOD!

Everything from the best pizza and bagels in the world, to fine restaurants with great service.  (That's right! I used to eat pizza and bagels!) 🙄

You see...I grew up in the restaurant business so I have a deep appreciation for amazing food and the rare, proper, service available in NYC.

When I moved away from the northeast, I would return to visit, usually in the autumn.  Much of the trip was food centric.

As I prepare to head to the city for the first time in over a decade, I am noticing just how my healing journey has shifted my priorities!

I am excited to visit this city I appreciate.

But, I am most excited to see friends and colleagues in person.

To spend the week surrounded by high-vibe business owners and entrepreneurs.
To learn with, and from, each other.
To get out of my comfort zone.
To visit with family.
To GROW!

I have come so far!

This is me on a live billboard in Times Square...RIGHT NOW!

I will not mourn the fact that I can't have a New York bagel or slice of pizza.

I will still enjoy the fine food and great service.  I no longer feel restricted when I eat out.

Why am I sharing this with you?  To offer the idea that there might be things you are firmly holding onto that may impede your growth and progress.  Things that are keeping you stuck.

And I gently encourage you to loosen your grip on things that are no longer serving you, so that you can blossom!

Take Action

Carve out 20-30 minutes of quiet time and grab a pen and some paper.

Think about what priorities, beliefs, and stories, you might be holding onto that no longer serve you and where you want to go, or the life you want to create. Put them down in writing.  Consider a gentle step you can take to start to create the shift.

Extra credit... either tear the paper up and throw it out, OR burn it.  Release the old...bring in the new!
