Do you track your sleep?

Even if you are committed to getting enough sleep…using a wearable sleep tracker can be a powerful tool.  And not just for your sleep!

I have been wearing an Oura Ring since 2016 (when they were big and bulky).
There are many trackers on the market, but the top two, in my opinion, are Oura Ring and Whoop Strap.  Both, Oura and Whoop, are considered to have the best HRV (heart rate variability) tracking on the market.
The reason I choose Oura over Whoop is that you can turn the ring on airplane mode and it still collects data, without constantly bombarding you in EMF’s.  It is possible that Whoop can do the same now, but I am not sure.

The value of tracking goes beyond sleep!
So often what we do, and what we eat, affects our sleep quality and we don’t realize.
Tracking HRV allows you to become aware of how what you are doing impacts you.

For example, is that late afternoon caffeine lowering your sleep quality?
Is your exercise routine supporting you?
Are you recovered?
Are you getting sick?
Are you sensitive to something you’re eating?

I am always looking to improve my sleep quality!
But I use the data I collect from my Oura ring to adjust my lifestyle and find what supports me most.
By tracking your resting heart rate and HRV, you can often detect little things that are impacting your health.

Take Action

If you have a tracker, but aren’t using it, start now.  If it is a different brand, that works too!  Just track your trends.  Notice if your heart rate is elevated, or your HRV lower than usual…and think about what might be playing a role.
If you don’t have a tracker, check out Whoop and Oura.  See if one of them resonates with you and might be a great addition to your health journey.

Extra Credit

If you are using a tracker you love, hit reply and let me know which brand.  And what you love about it.
