Are you aware that what you do first thing in the morning, affects your sleep quality?

One of my favorite hacks for improving sleep is to get morning sunlight.

The sleep/wake cycle is greatly effected by light so exposing your eyes to natural sunlight first thing in the morning helps support an optimal circadian rhythm and allows for better sleep quality.

Morning sunlight, which is full of natural blue light, triggers the release of cortisol, which tells your body to wake up.

Supporting that hormone release in the morning, sets the beginning of an ideal sleep/wake cycle, and allows for better melatonin production at night.

This can improve sleep quality.

Morning sunlight can also support your immune system by signaling Vitamin D production.

Optimal Vitamin D levels are essential for a healthy immune system.

An additional bonus of regular morning sunlight exposure is that it can help support weight loss, regardless of activity or diet.

Take Action

Get outside in the sun every morning, without sunglasses on.

Start with 5 minutes. Yes, that's enough. And you can work your way up from there.

That's it for this week's Take Your Power Back Thursday!
