Welcome to Take Your Power Back Thursday!
Have you fallen into the trap of believing the biggest meditation myth of all?
I had!
I used to think that I was failing at meditation.
Somewhere along the line, I picked up the idea that I was supposed to keep my mind completely clear while meditating, in order to be successful.
So I labeled myself "bad at meditating" and never stuck with a meditation routine for very long.
Sound familiar? I hear similar stories from my clients on a regular basis.
I am going to share the knowledge that turned it all around for me.
A little over six years ago, I heard a respected meditation teacher talking about this very misconception.
She explained that the human mind CANNOT stay blank for long and that it is not the purpose of meditating.
The power in a meditation routine is - noticing when your mind has wandered, and returning to the meditation.
WHAT!?! How come so many people don't know this?
Therefore, the only way to meditate wrong, is to not meditate at all!
Take Action
If you do not already have a meditation practice, try meditating for 5 minutes a day.
One of my favorite free meditation apps is
Insight Timer.
They have thousands of free meditations to choose from, and you can select by length, as well as type of mediation.
Give it a go!
When your mind wanders… and it will… just return your focus to the meditation.
I'll see you here next week!
