Time to Sweat

As the weather heats up for most of us, it is time to talk about sweat.

I encourage you to embrace this incredible body function!

You might be thinking "eww...I try to avoid looking sweaty."
But I hope to convince you otherwise.

Many think of the benefit of sweat to be temperature regulation.  And yes!  That is one essential outcome of sweating...to cool the body down.

And... an equally essential function of sweat is detox!

I know...here we go again...talking about toxins...

Stay with me!

The skin is the biggest organ.
And because it is an essential detox pathway, it is often referred to (in my circles) as the 3rd kidney.
Really!

Sweat allows us to detox heavy metals, environmental toxins, and bacteria.
(Glycoproteins in the sweat bind to bacteria to pull them out of the body...isn't that cool!?!)

Sound important?
IT IS!

The main argument I hear against sweating is "my sweat is stinky".

Did you know, it is actually not the sweat that smells, but bacteria and hormone secretions on the skin (often in the armpits)?
This is why once my clients clean up there diets and reduce their toxic load, they find that sweating no longer makes them smelly.

Take Action

Get sweating any which way you can!
Exercise, sauna, or simply spend time out in the heat.
Help your body out by consciously making sure to get sweaty!
